Scholastic Book Club

The best gift any parent can give a child is the love of books and the joy and benefits of independent reading for fun. Children who read at home, or are read to, have a head start on reading success in school. Our school is participating in Scholastic Book Club this year. Starting this term we will be sending home a Club catalogue once a term and twice in Term 4 with a different selection of books offered for all ages. You’ll find award-winning books and bestsellers, as well as old and new favourites. The books span a wide range of children’s reading levels and interests and are affordable (some books cost as little as $2).

It is easy to order. The Book Club LOOP platform for parents allows you to pay by credit card. Your child’s order is submitted directly to school safe and sound and the books will be delivered to class. There is also the option of holding the items back from delivery to the class and collecting from the library, by clicking on the Gift order icon under the LOOP settings.

You can place your child’s order at or using the LOOP app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. All payments must be made online using the LOOP app as there will not be the option of paying by through the school.

Each order helps earn free books and teaching materials for our school; however there is never any obligation to order. Jean Jackson-Green (Governing Council parent) has kindly offered to co-ordinate Book Club with me so please see either of us for more information.

Mothers’ Day Stall

The fundraising committee will be holding their annual Mothers’ Day Stall in the hall this Friday 12 May.

This is an opportunity for students to purchase gifts for the significant females in their life: mothers, grandmothers, carers, special friends.

A wide range of gifts will be available, as well as paper gift bags to carry them in. Gifts are priced at: 50c, $1, $2, $3, $4, $5, $6, $7, $10 and $15.

Classes will go shopping with their class and a group of parent volunteers will assist them with their purchases.

The hall will be a “Mum Free” Zone until lunch time. Mums helping on the stall, will be asked to leave while their children shop.

Fundraising News

Last year our Fundraising team raised almost $16,000! Thank you to Jodi, Jasmine, Karen and their team of helpers for a fantastic effort. This money has gone towards funding our PCW, Julie Mullins and the programmes she runs for our school community. Our fundraising team has already been very active and organised the calendar for 2017. We hope that you will enjoy fundraising with Reynella this year, with some new and exciting events planned. Please remember that participating in all of our fundraising events is not expected, but we do hope that you can join in with the fun and excitement of raising money for our school by joining in with some of them.

Thank you to everyone who ordered bulbs. We raised $ 1,336.50, a fantastic effort! Bulb orders were sent home on Wednesday, this week. If you didn’t receive yours, please contact our front office. On Sports Day this year, our fundraising team will be running a sausage sizzle for students and their family supporters and opening the Sports Canteen for drinks and snacks for our visitors. Our school canteen will be open as usual for our students lunch orders and recess.

Entertainment Book flyers will be sent home very soon for those who like to take advantage of these discounts. I personally recommend the digital version of the book, it’s very easy to use and very convenient.
